Part four:

Family and friends: Our/their. Has/have. Possessive (s). Plural nouns

Example1: (Family and friends) 

 

-          Sally is Tim’s wife

-          Tim is Sally’s husband

-          Julie is Tim and Sally’s daughter

-          Nick is their son

-          Sally is Nick’s mother

-          Tim is Julie’s father

-          Julie is Nick’s sister

-          Nick is Julie’s brother

-          Tim and Sally are Julie and Nick’s parents

-          Julie and Nick are Tim and Sally’s children

 

Exercise 1: (Family and friends)

Now it’s your turn

Fill in the blank:

-          …. is …..’s wife

-          Eric is ……’s ………..

-          ……. is ….. and ……’s daughter

-          Adam is their ……

-          Emy is ….’s mother

-          Eric is …..’s ……….

-          …….. is …….’s sister

-          Adam is …….’s …….

-          Emy and Eric are ……. and ……’s ……..

-          Sally and Adam are ……. and ……’s children

 

Example 2: (Possessive’s)

This is Nick. This is his son -->  This is Nick’s son.

This is Sally. This is her car -->  This is Sally’s car.

His house --> Tim’s house

Her name --> your wife’s name

Exercise 2: (Possessive’s)

Now it’s your turn

Fill in the blank:

This is Nick. This is his son  ŕ  this is ………. son.

This is Sally. This is her car ŕ this is ………. car.

His house --> ….. house.

Her name --> Your ……….. name.

Example 3: Plural nouns

Most nouns add –s in the plural

 

-          Book --> Books

-          Student --> Students

 

Nouns end s, ss, sh, or ch add es

 

-          Bus --> buses

-          Class --> classes

 

Some nouns that end in (y) change to (ies)

 

-          Dictionary --> dictionaries

-          City --> cities

 

Some nouns are irregular

-          Man --> men

-          Woman --> Women

-          Child --> children
